The Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal is now accepting submissions for Volume 26.
AELJ is published three times per academic year. We invite the submission of articles, case comments, and essays for review from scholars, professors, and practitioners. Each submission is carefully reviewed and considered for publication. Electronic submissions are preferred and should be sent either to aeljsubmissions@gmail.com or through ExpressO. We also accept submissions at the following address:
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law
Attn: Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal
55 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10003
We regret that mailed manuscripts cannot be returned.
Submission Requirements
- The text and citations of the article should conform to the 18th edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
- The submission must be accompanied by the author’s CV.
- An abstract and cover letter may be submitted, but are not required.
- Due to the high number of submissions that are received, we regret that we cannot accept submissions from law students, other than those at Cardozo, working towards their J.D.
Regular Review
Typically, we respond to submissions within 10-14 days after receipt. We will acknowledge receipt of the submission within three days of receipt by email. At the same time, we will inform you as to whether we require any additional information and by when a response can be expected.
Expedited Review
If you have received an offer for publication by another Journal, we are happy to provide expedited review. We will make every effort to provide a decision prior to your deadline, though we offer no guaranties. To request an expedited review, please email aeljsubmissions@gmail.com and tell us the deadline for your offer. If you submitted your article through ExpressO, please use the Expedite feature available through that service.
Our Commitment to Authors
AELJ endeavors to make the entire publication process a constructive, cooperative experience between authors and student editors. From the submissions process through editing to publication and beyond, we strive to communicate fully and effectively with our authors, to meet our commitments, and to publish well-written, carefully-cited articles and notes.
If an article is selected for publication, AELJ will work with the author to establish a mutually convenient editing schedule. Because we believe that authors should retain ownership of their article, once an article is accepted, we will discuss the type and extent of editorial input that the author feels will be most helpful. Our authors make the final decision as to the edits and comments we offer during the process.
AELJ requires from the author a nonexclusive license for commercial publication and maintains the right to post a copy of the article on this website. Upon publication of the article, AELJ will furnish to the author a PDF of the citable form of the article. We also supply the author with five copies of the issue in which the article is published and twenty-five individual reprints of the article. The author is encouraged to post the article on SSRN or the author’s own website. Similarly, republication is encouraged. Our only request is that first publication be attributed to the Journal. A copy of AELJ’s author’s agreement can be found here.
