Elections for the AELJ Board are held each spring. There are 14 credit-bearing positions (each Editor receives one credit per semester) and one paid position. In addition, there are an unlimited number of spots for Associate Editors, who do not receive credit, but get the benefit of keeping AELJ on their resume in return for a lesser but substantial commitment to the Journal. Staffers are selected for the Board based on the strength of their articles editing, evaluations from their Notes Editor, attendance at events, a brief statement of interest, and a short interview with the current Editorial Board. Once the new Editorial Board is selected, they will train with the current Board until the end of the spring semester, and officially take over all responsibility for the Journal in May.
