EDITING

An important part of the work that a staffer does is editing the articles and notes that are selected for publication for each of the Journal’s three issues. For each assignment, a staffer will be assigned to an Articles Editor, who will oversee a group of staffers and distribute sections of the article to each member of the group. The staffer is responsible for locating the sources that are cited in the relevant footnotes (most are available on Lexis or Westlaw or in the school’s library); uploading the sources onto a website created for the Journal; cite and substance (checking quotes and cited propositions for accuracy); bluebooking, and checking the grammar and spelling of the assigned section of the article. Staffers will work with different Articles Editors and staffers on each assignment, as part of an effort to encourage staffers to get to know each other as well as all the AELJ Editors. Staffers will work on about six articles and notes during the course of the year.
